Baccalaureate Program
The basic level of education for nursing in Nova Scotia is a four-year nursing program leading to a bachelor of science in nursing (BScN) degree. These universities offer the BScN program in two ways; one for students with no previous nursing education (basic), the other for registered nurses (post diploma).

PhD (Nursing) Program
The School of Nursing PhD program prepares nurse scientists who will develop nursing practices that improve health outcomes generally or women’s health outcomes specifically. The student’s research interest frames an intensive investigation of a particular question relevant to nursing. As the foundation of the program, research and the dissmenination of research findings provide the vehicle for developing and demonstrating leadership in the advancement of nursing knowledge, theory and practice, and health related policy.

Nursing Refresher Program
The College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia (the College) has approved the Nursing Refresher Program offered through Edmonton’s Grant MacEwan University for eligible candidates (living in Nova Scotia) interested in re-entering the nursing profession. This self-paced program is offered in Nova Scotia by the Registered Nurses Professional Development Centre (RN-PDC). Read more>>>
