Renew/Apply for RN Licence

To work in Nova Scotia as a registered nurse, you must have a valid licence, issued by the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia.

What would you like to do?

  • Renew your Licence
    You currently hold an active-practising licence with the College and wish to renew before November 1st.
  • Reactivate your Licence
    Your active-practising licence has expired.
  • Apply for an Initial Licence
    You are a new graduate of a nursing program in Nova Scotia or a new graduate or RN from another province/territory/country and wish to practice in Nova Scotia.
  • Apply for a Temporary Licence
    You are eligible to, but have not yet written the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination, or are waiting for the exam results, or are enrolling in a post-RN course in Nova Scotia.
  • Apply for or Renew Non-Practising Affiliation
    You will not be practising nursing but want to stay in touch with the College.
  • Apply for RN (Retired) Affiliation
    You are retired and wish to use the designation “RN (Retired)”.
  • Re-Entry Program
    You have been a registered nurse but have insufficient RN practice hours to qualify for an active-practising licence at this time .
